Rich & Thick Hot Chocolate


Rich & Thick Hot Chocolate ... Creamy, rich and thick hot chocolate recipe that will warm you up in the cold weather!


Rich & Thick Hot Chocolate

Serves : 8 ( 1/2 cup servings )


Ingredients :
  • 2 tsp.  cornstarch
  • 4 cups milk, divided
  • 7 oz.  dark chocolate ( or semi-sweet baking chocolate ), chopped
  • 1 1/2 tbsp.  sugar ( adjust to your taste )
  • 1 tsp.  vanilla extract, optional 
Method :
  • Whisk together cornstarch and ( 1/2 cup ) milk in a bowl or cup until smooth.
  • Heat remaining ( 3 1/2 cups ) milk in a large saucepan over medium heat until bubbles appear around edge of saucepan ( about 4 minutes; do not boil ).
  • Whisk in chocolate, sugar and vanilla extract until blended and smooth. Whisk in cornstarch mixture.
  • Bring milk mixture to a light boil, whisking frequently ( about 4 minutes ).
  • Remove from heat and let cool slightly ( mixture will thicken as it cools ).
  • Serve immediately with whipped cream, if desired.
